- From the menus, go to Settings->Display->Screen. Choose "Custom" and
- on the screenmode requester, make sure that you have it set for more
- than 2 bitplanes. It sounds to me like you've run out of colors on
- the screen palette. One way to verify that a color change took place
- is to look at the first line below the window titlebar. It might look
- something like this prior to setting a color:

- Then, after applying red, it should look like this:
